A subtle mix of understated elegance and charm, Lisa's collections do, in fact, reflect her own distinct and playful British style, as well as her own vision of family.
On arrival at the home of Lisa Baker, Creative Director and founder of Oscar & Patch, one is immediately struck by its remarkable setting, a former Georgian military headquarters once home to Winston Churchill, now sensitively redeveloped into a thriving community and one of Devon’s premier places to live.
Lisa Baker BA (Hons) is a British interior designer and stylist who lived and worked in London for 13 years before returning to the Westcountry to raise her two boys. Having grown up in the working fishing port of Looe, Cornwall, she left in the 1990s to pursue a career that would prove nothing short of extraordinary. After completing her fashion studies in London, Lisa turned down an offer to continue her studies at the iconic Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, an institution renowned for producing some of the world’s most influential designers, including Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Stella McCartney, and Sarah Burton, to name but a few. Instead, a chance encounter with one of Britain’s most iconic designers, Dame Vivienne Westwood, on a London Tube platform became the catalyst for her entry into the world of fashion, and the rest, as they say, is history.
With collaborations spanning esteemed fashion houses, international luxury brands, members of the Royal Family, and prominent public figures, Lisa built a career that fuses her unique, eclectic English aesthetic with the demands of the global luxury stage. Her work as both designer and stylist deepened her passion for heritage craft and timeless design, while her love of nostalgia and history, shaped by the great English practitioners and ateliers, continues to define the aesthetic at the heart of Oscar & Patch today.Stepping into Lisa’s house, the atmosphere is exactly as one might imagine: that of a 21st-century bohemian, where tradition and modernity meet. The space reflects someone at once enchanted by minimalism yet irresistibly drawn to the romance of collecting, filled with beautiful and eclectic artefacts and antiques from across the world, all underpinned by a distinctly quirky British sense of humour.
I would describe the house as belonging to someone who is very torn between being a minimalist and a massive collector of beautiful and eclectic artifacts, underpinned by a quirky British sense of humour...
