I had to share this painting. I came across it while I was browsing @Christie's online, just as I like to see what lots they have.

This is an incredible, beautiful portrait that really depicts the subject in the most innocent and elegant way. I absolutely love art; it really influences my work.

Philip Alexius de László was one of the most celebrated portrait painters of the early 20th century. Born in Hungary in 1869, he became a leading society portraitist in Britain, painting royalty, political figures and cultural icons.

His luminous technique and ability to capture both personality and mood made him a legend.❤️

Eiderdown quilts, or “eiderdowns,” were introduced to Victorian Britain as a lightweight alternative to heavy blankets. The Titanic famously carried 800 eiderdown duvets on its maiden voyage.

In those days, beds were dressed in layers - beginning with a top sheet, followed by blankets, and finally an eiderdown.

They were considered the crowning glory of the bed, prized for their remarkable warmth whilst remaining beautifully lightweight.
Today, we continue this great British tradition, creating heirloom eiderdowns that are both beautiful and useful.

Handcrafted in our Devon workshop in timeless checks and classic ticking, they are wonderfully versatile for both mother and child. ❤️

The 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II (born April 21, 1926) is marked on April 21, 2026.

And quite by chance I came across this beautiful portrait of the seven-year-old Princess Elizabeth of York – the future Queen – by Philip Alexius de László, painted in 1933.

I must say, I personally find it highly stylised. ❤️

To get started, we simply need the lampshade design, required quantities, and your project timeline. There is no minimum order, allowing flexibility for both bespoke pieces and larger production runs.

Each lampshade is hand cut and sewn in our Devon, England workshop by master craftspeople with over 50 years’ experience in this discipline. Every piece is unique, with natural variations in pattern and tone — part of the beauty of handmade craftsmanship.
