 ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBILITY

At Oscar & Patch our aim is not to be evangelists when it comes to sustainability, but we believe in “Buying Less, Choosing Well, and Making it Last”, where considering what you buy and the story behind your purchase is just as important as the purchase itself.

       OUR SUPPLY CHAIN

  • Oscar & Patch has undertaken a number of environmental practices, but we believe there is always room for improvement. Each season, make a concerted effort to retain the prior level of duty while also looking for methods to increase our accountability as we move forward

  • The following describes some of our present practices, as well as our intentions for improvement.

        CODES OF CODUCT

  • We insist that our suppliers, factories, and mills observe the Oscar & Patch internal code of conduct.

  • We hold our suppliers accountable to meet labour rights standards stipulated by the International Labour Organisation and the Ethical Trading Commission.

  • We are unable to openly disclose our factory and supplier information due to sensitive information and the competitive nature of the design industry. However, we keep a record of all our suppliers' firm codes of conduct to ensure that they are aware of and adhere to the rules established by their respective countries.

  • Aware of and adhere to the rules established by their respective countries.

  • Our factory and supply chain has several certifications, including:

  • (GOTS) Global Organic Textile Standard

  • BCI (Better Cotton Initiative

  • OCS (Organic Cotton Standard)

  • Zero Waste initiative Oeko Tex 100

  • The majority of our suppliers use solar or other renewable energy to supplement their energy consumption. All are prioritising the shift to renewable energy for their businesses of the future.

  • Materials and fabric waste are handled throughout our supply chain using a variety of approaches. The majority of our manufacturers and suppliers recycle waste into new materials and fabrics.

     OUR MATERIAL

  • We aim to find a balance between design, quality and sustainability through the following methods:

      LUXURY COTTON

  • For almost 45 years, our supplier has specialised in luxury cottons, supplying the pinnacle of fine apparel, the Jermyn Street and Savile Row tailors.

  • The cutting-edge manufacturing facility generates stunning fabrics made from the best Supima and Egyptian long staple cotton.

  • This enables the spinning of superfine two-fold yarns, which are subsequently woven into soft, sumptuous fabrics designed to last.

  • We also use GOTS and organic cotton in our garments. Where this hasn’t been possible, we have ensured that the Cottons we use are Oeko-Tex and REACH certified.

        INTERIORS FABRICS

  • The core fabrics in our homeware collections are spun by the first UK cotton weaving mill to be awarded Soil Association and Global Organic Textile Standard accreditation, with over 150 years’ experience within the industry. Produced in the heart of UK textile manufacturing, The mill is known for its natural and organic approach at every stage from farm to fabric. With no chemicals being used during the weaving process.

        BUTTTONS

  • Our buttons are sourced from the highest quality natural raw materials, turned and finished using traditional techniques by Britain's last button maker.

       LACE

  • The exceptional lace used in our garments is manufactured in Great Britain with over 178 years of experience. Combining the best of old traditions with new technology, to produce the most sought-after lace within the fashion industry.

       LABELS

  • Our high-quality garment and homeware labels are manufactured by a UK-based company with over fifty years of weaving experience in the narrow fabric industry, making woven labels.

       FOOTWEAR

  • Our shoes and slippers are hand-made in Great Britain using only the greatest quality natural materials, and they are produced by a family business that is in its fifth generation.  adorning the feet of royalty as well as people of celebrity status.

      HIGH QUALITY RAW MATERIALS

  • We give priority to British companies and mills that produce sustainable fabrics and fibres when selecting fabrics for our collection.

  • We ask our mills to substitute the greatest amount of sustainable fibre without sacrificing the design or fabric's creative integrity when a desired fabric isn't available in a 100% sustainable fibre.

  • In cases where neither is feasible, we will only utilise textiles that have been approved by Oekotex and Sustainable Textile Production (STeP). This ensures that no dangerous chemicals are used during the weaving, dyeing, or finishing processes, and that workers are treated fairly throughout the production process.

  • Textile and material waste: We have committed to ordering only the fabric and resources required for manufacture based on pre-orders made through our wholesale partners and website. When we have excess fabric, we either cut it (if it is a small amount) to make hair accessories or save it for future seasons (if it is a large amount) to ensure that no material goes to waste.

  • We collaborate with the local art institution, which makes use of all our leftover materials. With the goal of preventing extra materials from going to waste at the end of each season.

       OUR PACKING

  • We are constantly searching for new ways to reduce our usage of single-use plastics and utilise recycled materials whenever possible. We package all of our items in recyclable, regenerated polythene and recyclable FSC certified cardboard boxes.

  • Our paper is sourced from ethically managed forests, and our supplier's innovative method reduces waste while maximising recycled paper. 95% of the paper we print on is certified as FSC® or PEFC®.

      OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

  • At Oscar & Patch we are proud of our low carbon footprint:

  • We produce (100%) of our homeware and garments in the UK, ensuring the distance a product has to travel from factory to our studios is minimised.

  • For the majority of our garments and homeware, the fabric and materials are produced in the same country as the factory. This limits the amount of travel required to make each garment.

       OUR DESIGN STUDIO

  • We have eliminated plastic single use hangers and are working to eliminate all virgin plastic from our supply chain.

  • All printing is done on recycled paper

  • All interns are paid for travel and food and follow the laws set out in the UK for work placements.

      AFTER CARE

  • You can help your garments and homeware last longer and reduce their environmental impact by caring for them with help from the list outlined below:

  • Wash on low temperatures (on 30 degrees or less).

  • Only dry clean when necessary and use an eco-friendly service.

  • Avoid tumble drying.

  • Iron less (hang your clothes to dry).

  • Repair and maintain your garments or homeware
